Our first collaboration with John McAllister is a beautiful series of four lithographic prints. The prints are available both as a set - presented in a specially designed and handmade debossed clothbound portfolio - as well as individually. Each of the four prints capture McAllister's customary use of lush colours, depicting still life scenes layered up against a collaged background of geometric patterns and luminescent foliage. The prints are released to coincide with a solo show of McAllister's new work at Carl Freedman Gallery, which opens on Thursday 9th October.
It might be hard to imagine how Matisse and Bonnard could be refigured successfully for the 21st Century, but American artist John McAllister does just that. Replacing a Mediterranean palette with one invented while living for a period in LA, McAllister’s paintings depict interior spaces and scenes from the outdoors, often incorporating both within the same frame like overlapping photographs.
