About the Edition

Jenny Holzer's limited edition print reconfigures one of her iconic Truisms: "ACTION CAUSES MORE TROUBLE THAN THOUGHT". Holzer chose a decorative, cursive font rendered in hand-applied palladium leaf onto a screen printed silver-grey background to create an all over pattern of flowing curls. At first the words remain somewhat elusive but once discerned their meaning becomes clear and the simple message richly communicated.

About the Artist

Jenny Holzer is an American conceptual artist, based in New York. The main focus of her work is the delivery of words and ideas in public spaces and includes large-scale installations, advertising billboards, projections on buildings and other structures, and illuminated electronic displays.

Holzer belongs to the feminist branch of a generation of artists that emerged around 1980, and was an active member of Colab during this time, participating in the famous The Times Square Show.
